MANGROVE TREE PLANTING ACTIVITY AT BRGY. CALAGUIMAN SAMAL, BATAAN
On 18 MARCH 2023 at 0630H, Alexandria Marine and General Shipping Agency Inc. conducted a mangrove tree planting activity, spearheaded by personnel of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), at Brgy. Calaguiman Samal, Bataan, wherein a total of 1,000 Mangrove Tree Propagule were planted in the said area.
This is in line with the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) implementation of its administrative order that mandates Ports Users to plants trees or mangroves in obtaining permits.
In consonance with Republic Act No. 9729, or The Climate Change Act of 2009 authored by Senator Loren Legarda, PPA issued Administrative Order No. 14-2020 mandating permit applicants and contractors to plant 1,000 trees or mangroves that are of great help in times of inundation.
